Maple Brined Turkey

Maple Brined Turkey

A maple-brined turkey is a delicious way to add flavor and juiciness to your holiday bird. The brine infuses the turkey with the rich sweetness of maple syrup, creating a tender and flavorful dish.

Ingredients:

  • Brine:

    • 1 gallon water
    • 1 cup kosher salt
    • 1 cup pure maple syrup
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
    • 1 onion, quartered
    • 1 bunch fresh thyme
  • Turkey:

    • 1 whole turkey (12-14 pounds), thawed
    • 1/4 cup melted butter
    • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Brine:

    • In a large pot, combine water, kosher salt, maple syrup, brown sugar, peppercorns, bay leaves, garlic, onion, and thyme. Bring to a boil, stirring until the salt and sugar dissolve. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  2. Brine Turkey:

    • Place the turkey in a large brining bag or container. Pour the cooled brine over the turkey, ensuring it is fully submerged. Refrigerate for 12-24 hours.
  3. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  4. Prepare Turkey:

    • Remove the turkey from the brine and rinse it thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  5. Roast Turkey:

    • Brush the turkey with melted butter and maple syrup. Roast in the preheated oven, basting occasionally with pan drippings, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 3-4 hours.
  6. Rest and Serve:

    • Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving. Serve and enjoy your Maple Brined Turkey!
